Budget Hosting No Longer Means Making Compromises
|
The idea of budget hosting has meant different things over the years. Fortunately, today, the phrase means economical, stable hosting that just about anyone can afford.
Traditionally, budget hosting meant that you could only host one website, and that site really needed to be "text-heavy" and "graphics-light". In other words, creating a site with a lot of fancy graphics could result in running out of your allotted hosting space, or it could possibly slow the speed of the site down to a crawl, sending away traffic.
Today, those concerns are pretty much ancient history. For less than $10 a month, you can host numerous sites, with enough speed and space to build a professional, graphics-based website that will load just about as fast as a site hosted on a dedicated server.
The other traditional concern with budget hosting was reliability and uptime. In the past, trying to save money meant compromise. You had to learn to deal with periods of time when your website would be down. Also, some fly-by-night companies would suddenly go out of business, leaving you without access to your website. And, if you hadn't been backing up regularly, you could have found yourself with no way to recover months (or years!) of valuable data and content.
Once again, these issues are gone today for the most part. While it's true that all types of companies can and do go out of business, it has become frighteningly easy to research various companies and get a good sense for how strongly positioned they are in the marketplace.
With this knowledge in hand, it becomes a matter of simply finding the features you want, at a price you can afford. Thanks to the notable advances in budget hosting, there is no reason why you can't build an affordable site of your dreams.
