Can you tell us a brief history about how the company was founded?

Cirrus Tech. Ltd. was first initiated by myself and my brother Mr.Ali Mirdamadi. We started our small business with our bigger than life ideas from our apartment solarium (Den) 7 years ago. Then, most of the Internet on cable providers were offering static IPs for hosting light weight websites, so we subscribed to our local provider's business package with this dream that we will subscribe to more reliable connections when we had enough customers. Soon after, the number of subscribers grew and we could afford a secondary connection (ISDN) to cover for unreliable internet on cable connectivity. Although, we did not have any backup batteries or any type of power emergency systems, but what we always had in mind, was that, we can keep our customers happy if we try to offer the best of support given our resources and limitations. With that goal in mind, we successfully converted our business to a more serious and professional service and we are proud to say, on top of meeting all the industry standards, Cirrus is now one of the most reputable companies when it comes to support and customer care!

Where did the name CirrusHosting come from?

The word "Cirrus" means tendril, a type of a plant that grows spiral around all the objects it is close to and goes around them and holds them strong while attaching itself to them. We believe our business model simply has grown like a tendril. We have been growing strong by strengthening and supporting our clients. If they become firm we will be standing firm like them.

You are a Canadian web hosting company. Is you customer based mainly Canadian or is it Global?

It is at the moment mainly Canadian, but we have plans to go international as soon as we are ready for it. Although we have some referral clients in the US as well as other markets such as Western Europe, Middle East and East Asia

What are your marketing plans for 2006? What areas do you plan to focus on?

In 2006, cirrus will be focusing on providing various VPS (Virtual Private Servers) as well as dedicated servers services. This is due to the fact that, so many Canadian companies are now looking into having their servers physically located in Canada because of the concerns over the reliability of US based data centers in areas hit by hurricanes in the last year.

Your website emphasizes your Windows hosting plans. Is this your speciality? Why focus on Windows instead of Linux?

In March 2005, Cirrus management team decided to offer its services to a broader range of customers over the net and basically initiate a competitive service offering. At the time, based on our market analysis, there were only a few companies offering robust windows based web hosting within our target market. So we thought it is going to be a good choice for us to put our focus there, and fortunately it seems that it has been the right one.

Virtual Private Servers are becoming very popular. How do you see the growth in this segment of the hosting business?

I believe the VPS industry is just at its beginning. It takes a while before companies realize the actual potential the whole industry. There are so many benefits VPSes can bring into IT industries in my opinion, but it is just beyond the scope of this interview. I'll give you one glimpse of what can be expected from them. VPSes are perfect for application service providers for so many reasons existing in nature of the VPSes. The most important is their independence of the hardware they are installed on, giving the provider as well as the users the ability to move and expand their VPS easily and in snap of a finger. This also gives the developers the chance to sell services based on their applications in isolated environments without having to ask their customers to purchase an expensive dedicated server and hence with less over head.

Considering Windows, Linux, shared, dedicated, reselling, vps, etc., what segment of web hosting do you see having the largest growth over the next 3 years?

I would say VPS for so many reasons.

On the other side, which of these areas do you see the least growth?

This is a hard question; I believe no one can have any answers to this question. See, the web hosting industry can change significantly and also very fast, when a new technology comes out, and it is really unpredictable to say in which segment there will be an innovation in technology.

What is the 1 thing that keeps you up at night?

Interesting question :) It really depends on the subject that goes through my mind, but I can say most of the time when I read something new about our industry and I start imagining things can be done using it.

On the other hand, what is the 1 thing that makes you jump out of bed in the morning?

My Clients and making sure their needs are being met at Cirrus.
